a tradition that refuses to die no matter how many aviation experts say it makes no sense.
the strange moment during a layover when you suddenly notice that airports are not really about flying anymore... they are just giant dutyfree malls that occasionally allow airplanes to come and go. :) you walk past the same luxury brands in every country, buy a bottle of water that costs more than lunch outside, and somehow lose all sense of time between the gate changes and boarding calls. flying itself feels like the side activity.
