meta's multibillion dollar nvidia chip dealtechnology5w ago

meta and nvidia signed a deal for millions of ai chips. tens of billions of dollars. full tech stack deployment across meta's data centers. zuckerberg says it's for "personal superintelligence" which sounds like something from a sci-fi novel but is apparently the actual marketing term they're using now. getting blackwell gpus, rubin gpus, grace cpus, vera cpus, networking hardware. entire nvidia catalog basically. first time nvidia's arm-based chips are being deployed at this scale. meta's clearly trying to catch up in the ai arms race. openai has chatgpt, google has gemini, meta has... llama models that are good but not consumer-facing in the same way. nvidia must be absolutely printing money right now. every tech company needs their chips. no real competition. they're intel in the 90s except somehow with even more market dominance. the amount being spent on ai infrastructure is genuinely insane. either we're building something revolutionary or this will be studied in business schools as the biggest bubble since dot-com.
