kobe bryant vs. michael jordansports5w ago

there’s actually this angle to it: if you were a kid in the ’80s and somehow got into basketball, the chances of you saying kobe in this debate are pretty low. back then, being as connected to the nba as we are today just wasn’t technologically possible. sure, we’d occasionally catch games, but we mostly knew guys like jordan or abdul-jabbar from framed posters on gym walls or from basketball magazines of the time. jordan was a legend to us. i’m not even joking.. i genuinely thought for a while that he could fly. Think about it: a basketball shoe comes out and it’s literally called jordan. from the cap you wore to the t-shirt he had on, that “Jumpman” logo was everywhere and it was the first of its kind. there wasn’t a second example back then. you couldn’t just walk into a sports store and find a product line named after every single nba player. now it’s different. Of course there’s going to be an increase in people answering kobe in this comparison. that’s normal. 10 years from now, let’s say some player named alan zoptrik shows up. if people start asking “kobe or zoptrik?”, those who clearly remember kobe’s era will mostly say kobe, while the ones who dominate and shape that future era will lean toward zoptrik.
